In the Queen’s Park community of London, the Doves of Unity peace movement represents a growing commitment to harmony and connection among residents. This initiative has gained significant traction, especially among young people, as it fosters a sense of belonging and shared purpose within the community. Inspired by the “Peace Doves” installation created by sculptor Peter Walker, the movement features thousands of paper doves, each adorned with personal messages of peace from community members.
The Doves of Unity movement encourages young adults to engage actively, reflecting on themes of peace and collaboration. Over the past couple of years, community groups have been instrumental in promoting the initiative, organizing events and workshops to involve more residents. The installation, which will be housed at Southwark Cathedral from July to September 2025, transforms the sacred space into an inviting environment for contemplation and connection.
