london s holiday hotel trees

Where better to witness the splendor of Christmas than in London’s most prestigious hotels? This year, the capital’s luxury establishments have transformed their lobbies into festive wonderlands, each competing with unique tree displays that showcase remarkable creativity and splendor.

Claridge’s continues its Art Deco tradition with a 16-foot lobby tree designed in partnership with Burberry. Creative Director Daniel Lee crafted the display using surplus fabrics adorned with 600 bows, brass bells, glass baubles, and chess pieces. Scottish thistles reference Burberry’s heritage, while a pop-up store and purple check cushions complete the experience.

Burberry’s artful revival meets Claridge’s elegance in a 16-foot masterpiece of bows, bells and heritage touches.

The Lanesborough presents a 25-foot spruce under its “Enchanted Residence” theme. Located near Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, the tree features red and gold bows with hand-crafted ornaments designed by Clerkenwell florists Wildabout. Visitors can enjoy hot chocolate served in silver teapots while admiring the display.

Corinthia’s tree stands majestically in the lobby lounge beneath a Baccarat chandelier, following “The Twelve Days of Christmas” theme. The Flowerbx florists decorated it with a partridge topper, drums representing the 12 drummers, and golden pear-shaped baubles, with a toy train circling the base.

Pan Pacific London boasts the city’s tallest hotel tree at 67 feet, positioned outside in Bishopsgate. This traditional spectacle, crafted by The Christmas Decorators, features 65,000 lights and 800 red and gold baubles. Dame Joan Collins had the honor of illuminating this childhood Christmas film-inspired creation.

The Ned’s 22-foot tree marks their first collaboration with Macallan whisky, adorned with velvet bows in Macallan red and copper baubles referencing whisky stills. The London Edition’s impressive 24-foot tree stands surrounded by gingerbread cottages and birdhouses, reflecting their collaboration with cookery writer Skye McAlpine.

The Goring offers a “London Calling” tree designed with Lulu Guinness, surrounded by telephone boxes and crimson lips motifs. Not far away, Annabel’s exclusive club presents a dramatic installation with a blue night sky theme inspired by the magical world of Narnia.

Meanwhile, Shangri-La The Shard provides a traditional tree with a twist—positioned between floors 34-52, it offers panoramic views of London alongside its gold baubles and red velvet ribbons.

The Connaught showcases a magnificent 31-foot Nordmann Fir featuring LED-illuminated spheres with AI-generated faces designed by Swiss artist Urs Fischer, marking the hotel’s tenth year of artist-designed Christmas trees.
