Music legends and industry experts will gather at the British Library in London for “David Bowie In Time,” an all-encompassing tribute marking the 10th anniversary of the iconic artist’s death. The January 17, 2026, event will feature a full day of programming from 12:15 PM to 7:30 PM, followed by a special evening cabaret performance until 9:30 PM.
Notable performers include Blixa Bargeld, who will present the UK premiere of his “Blixa Sings David Bowie” EP, and Jehnny Beth, delivering an intimate solo performance of Bowie classics. The musical direction will be handled by pianist and composer Nikko Weidemann, with additional piano accompaniment by Daniel Brandt. For the evening portion, Gudrun Gut and Mark Reeder will serve as DJs.
The musical showcase features Bargeld’s Bowie EP premiere, Beth’s intimate classics, with Weidemann directing and evening sets by Gut and Reeder.
Despite the impressive lineup, some fans have noted key absences among Bowie’s closest collaborators. While Tony Visconti will discuss his production work on the Berlin trilogy and “Blackstar,” and Donny McCaslin who led the “Blackstar” recording band will participate, several significant figures from Bowie’s career are missing from the announced schedule. The tribute band David Live, which has received praise for its authentic homage to the pioneering performer, is noticeably absent from the event lineup. Meanwhile, the Celebrating David Bowie tour featuring Peter Murphy will be touring across European countries in January 2025, offering fans another opportunity to experience Bowie’s musical legacy.
The event will feature strong archival and academic components, with presentations by Harriet Reed, curator of the David Bowie Archive, and Sabrina Offord, Theatre and Performance Archivist. Attendees will gain insights into the extensive collection now housed at the David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse, which includes papers, clothing, music, films, and multimedia items.
Media elements include a screening of Francis Whately’s documentary “David Bowie: Five Years” and livestream options for online audiences. The musical focus emphasizes Bowie’s Berlin trilogy and his final album “Blackstar,” with references to the Ziggy Stardust era. Music journalist Paul Morley will also participate in additional talks exploring Bowie’s cultural impact and artistic evolution.
While in-person tickets for the daytime sessions are reportedly sold out, online streaming access remains available. Evening cabaret attendees will enjoy a standing-room-only format in the library’s Entrance Hall, with daytime ticket holders automatically included in the “Just A Cabaret” evening performance.
