Virgin Atlantic is launching a groundbreaking nonstop service from London Heathrow (LHR) to Phuket (HKT) beginning October 18, 2026. This new route will be the only direct flight connection between London Heathrow and Thailand’s largest island, operating seasonally during the winter months with three weekly departures on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from London, and return flights on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays from Phuket.
The route will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a flight time of approximately 11-12 hours. Travelers can choose from Economy, Premium, and Upper Class Suite cabins, each offering appropriate amenities. Economy passengers will enjoy the latest in-flight entertainment and meals, while Premium and Upper Class customers receive enhanced seating and services. All passengers will receive complimentary food and beverages throughout their journey.
Experience premium comfort aboard our 787-9 Dreamliners with three cabin options, each tailored to enhance your 12-hour journey to paradise.
Package holiday bookings opened on October 30, 2025, with flight-only bookings available from November 26, 2025. Holiday packages start from £999 per person, based on two adults traveling in October 2026 for seven nights. Travelers can book through Virgin Atlantic Holidays or selected travel partners.
The new service responds to growing demand for luxury winter escapes and eliminates the need for layovers when traveling to Thailand. Phuket appeals to both sun-seekers and culture enthusiasts looking to escape British winter conditions. The island has seen increased popularity since being featured in The White Lotus Season Three, which showcased its luxurious resorts and stunning landscapes. The island is known for its breathtaking beaches, vibrant nightlife, and serves as a gateway to jungle hideaways and nearby island escapes.
Accommodation options featured in Virgin Atlantic’s packages include the 4-star Sugar Marina Hotel Fashion at Kata Beach, with deluxe double rooms available on a bed and breakfast basis. For travelers seeking luxury, the 5-star Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort offers a hillside setting above Kamala Bay with seafront infinity pools. This route represents Virgin Atlantic’s first Southeast Asian long-haul destination, marking a significant expansion of their network.
This first nonstop connection from London Heathrow to Phuket marks a significant milestone in travel convenience. The route is expected to become popular with international travelers, positioning Virgin Atlantic competitively in the Asian long-haul market while providing easier access to Thailand’s tourism offerings.
