3m england playground makeover

While families across the UK seek new outdoor adventures, England’s enchanted playgrounds are undergoing magical transformations that blend fantasy with functional design. The Enchanted Forest at Stockeld Park exemplifies this trend with its extensive 1.5km forest trail winding through a 40-acre Adventure Park, featuring five themed playgrounds nestled within woodland settings.

A magical renaissance is sweeping England’s playgrounds, where whimsical design meets practical functionality in forest wonderlands.

Opening from April 5 to September 14, 2025, the Enchanted Forest offers zipwires, treehouses, and role-play areas along tarmacked pathways that accommodate prams and wheelchairs. Visitors will encounter whimsical houses and animated characters while exploring nearly a mile of forest filled with interactive elements suitable for the entire family.

The Musical Garden provides creative play opportunities with xylophones and drums, while the Jewel Heist mission challenge encourages family participation. The forest evolves and changes with the seasons year-round, creating a unique experience with each visit. During warmer months, Buccaneer Boats operate on the lake, and children can wave at the passing Flying Stocksman train, adding to the interactive experience.

Fairytale Farm, which opened in 2013 as the UK’s first attraction designed primarily for disabled children, continues to innovate with its inclusive approach. Located in Oxfordshire, this family-friendly destination combines enchanted tales with adventure play and animal encounters featuring alpacas and rabbits. The farm offers an exceptionally accessible and inclusive environment designed to accommodate children of all abilities.

New developments at Fairytale Farm include the Wonderland area launching Easter 2025, inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Attractions will include Queen of Hearts Crazy Cues, an accessible golf-snooker fusion, and Mad Hatter’s Playground designed specifically for children under four years old. Visitors can enjoy delicious refreshments at the Beanstalk Café featuring locally baked cakes and Lavazza coffee options.

The Fairy Dell adventure play area, developed by specialist company CAP.Co, will feature giant toadstools alongside dinosaur exhibits.

Pricing at Fairytale Farm remains affordable with children’s tickets (ages 2-16) at £9.99, or £8.99 when purchased online. Seniors receive discounted rates of £9.49 (£8.54 online), while carers enter free with appropriate evidence.

Weekday term-time visits offer further discounts, with adult and child tickets available for £7.99 each. The farm opens daily from 10am to 5pm, closing only for Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year.
