The iconic British comedy Fawlty Towers will return to theaters across the UK and Ireland with an extensive tour in 2026, following two sold-out West End seasons.
Adapted by John Cleese from the original TV series written by Cleese and Connie Booth, the production has received universal five-star reviews and was labeled the greatest British sitcom of all time by Radio Times.
Directed by Caroline Jay Ranger, the production will visit 26 venues from January to August 2026. The 18-member cast will recreate favorite moments from 12 television episodes, with Danny Bayne taking on the role of Basil.
Paul Nicholas will play the Major at most venues, though he will not appear in Newcastle, Leeds, or Llandudno. Joanne Clifton has been cast as Polly, though audiences should note that cast members are subject to change.
The tour begins at Glasgow Kings Theatre in January, where it has already received a four-star review during its run from January 13-17, 2026. Other highlighted venues include Bradford Alhambra Theatre (March 17-21), Blackpool Opera House (March 24-28), and Woking New Victoria Theatre (May 19-23).
The tour continues to Nottingham and Norwich in May and early June. Additional performances will take place at Portsmouth Kings Theatre, Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre, Newcastle Theatre Royal, and Dublin Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, concluding in early August 2026.
Some listings indicate the tour may have started earlier, from September 2025 at Churchill Theatre Bromley. Produced by Phil McIntyre Live Ltd, each performance runs 2 hours and 20 minutes, including one interval. The production features a stunning set design by Liz Ascroft that perfectly captures the 1970s hotel atmosphere. The production is not recommended for children under 5 years old.
Tickets start from €29.80 at select venues and are available through ATG Tickets and venue websites. The performance includes special effects such as strobe lighting and smoke, so sensitive viewers should be aware before attending. Following its record-breaking West End run and universal acclaim from critics, the production promises nostalgic, feel-good fun for fans of the BBC comedy.
The play features a brand-new finale written specifically for the stage by John Cleese himself, adding fresh material to the beloved classic episodes.
High demand is expected based on previous sold-out performances.
