star studded musical debut

A new fantasy musical, “Sea Witch,” will make its world premiere at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Sunday, March 1, 2026, with two performances scheduled at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

The production will be presented in a special concert format and marks an exciting addition to London’s vibrant theatrical scene.

Created and conceived by Kristopher Russell and Michael David Glover, the musical features music and lyrics by Segun Fawole, with a book written by Glover. The production is based on Sarah Henning’s novel “Sea Witch” and has been adapted with permission from HarperCollins Publishers.

This daring reimagining brings Henning’s fantasy to life through Fawole’s music and Glover’s narrative vision.

The star-studded cast includes Michelle Visage, Natalie Paris, and Mazz Murray, with additional performers to be announced in the coming months. Paris has already showcased her talent by performing “Tidal Wave,” one of the musical’s signature numbers.

“Sea Witch” serves as a prequel inspired by Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and reimagines the origins of the sea’s infamous villain.

The story follows Evie, a witch living in a world where magic is outlawed, and Annemette, a mermaid harboring a secret. Their intertwined journey explores the pivotal moments that reshape their futures.

The musical is expected to appeal to fans of fantasy productions like “The Little Mermaid” and “Wicked.”

Described as “daring and unapologetic,” the show promises powerful performances and original material that will captivate audiences of all ages.

Following its world premiere at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, “Sea Witch” will tour to additional venues, including Duke of York’s Theatre, Sunderland Empire, and Theatre Royal Glasgow.

The creative team has developed this original musical specifically for stage adaptation, expanding on character backstories from Henning’s contemporary fantasy novel.

Tickets for this highly anticipated premiere are now available for purchase, offering theater enthusiasts a chance to witness the birth of a new West End production.

Under the guidance of Kristopher Russell as director, the production aims to create a big, bold, and ultra-modern theatrical experience that will establish a new blueprint for musical theatre.

The production’s dynamic choreography by Dean Lee will feature an innovative movement language that explores the depths of the story’s emotional themes.
