floating pool wellness experience

London’s urban landscape will soon welcome a revolutionary wellness destination as plans for a 50-metre floating swimming pool in Canary Wharf‘s Eden Dock move forward. The ambitious project, operated by Sea Lanes, the team behind the UK’s first National Open Water Swimming Centre in Brighton, will transform the recently regenerated dock into a natural water swimming haven by summer 2026.

The swimming facility will feature an Olympic-sized, six-lane pool with crystal-clear water that consistently achieves an “Excellent” rating when tested against EU Bathing Standards. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, following planning permission granted by Tower Hamlets council, with doors opening to swimmers of all ages and competencies later that summer.

Open 364 days a year, the facility offers both membership options and pay-as-you-swim access, ensuring inclusivity for all Londoners seeking connection with water in an urban setting. The floating pool is designed to serve as a stepping stone between traditional pool swimming and open water experiences, making it accessible to various skill levels. This permanent installation differs significantly from typical pop-up pools that appear only during warmer months.

Beyond swimming, visitors will enjoy extensive wellness amenities including two saunas powered by 100% renewable energy and a community clubhouse hosting year-round wellness events. The facility will be fully lifeguarded for safety, ensuring peace of mind for swimmers of all abilities. A wetsuit concierge service and food and beverage options will enhance the experience for those looking to refuel after their swim. The project builds upon the successful regeneration of the Eden Dock area, creating a seamless integration with existing development plans.

The project represents a strategic enhancement of Canary Wharf’s green and blue spaces, seamlessly integrating with the biodiverse waterfront of Eden Dock. By maintaining high water quality standards, the facility offers urbanites a rare opportunity to swim in clean, natural water without leaving the city.

As construction approaches, anticipation builds for this unique urban oasis that promises to blend world-class swimming facilities with nature connection opportunities. The floating pool will stand as an indication of innovative urban planning that prioritizes wellness, community engagement, and environmental responsibility in one of London’s most prominent business districts.
