After four years of meticulous planning, The Last Days of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition will open its doors at ExCel London on November 14, 2025. This strictly limited engagement runs until March 15, 2026, giving visitors just 16 weeks to experience the UK’s first immersive Pompeii exhibition.
Located at Immerse LDN in the ExCel Waterfront, the exhibition spans over 2,000 square metres and features multiple rooms with reconstructed architecture. The space includes 1,200 square metres of 360-degree projection surfaces on 8-metre walls, creating a fully immersive environment for visitors.
The exhibition transports guests to daily life in 79 AD Pompeii and depicts the city’s destruction through multisensory technology. Visitors can walk through recreated streets, view domestic scenes, and examine frescoes and artifacts. The exhibition educates visitors about Pompeii’s historical significance while providing entertainment. The average visit lasts 90 minutes, allowing ample time to explore all features.
Highlights include a seated VR coliseum gladiator fight experience, Metaverse exploration of the Villa of Mysteries, and an AI photobooth that transforms visitors into ancient patricians. The exhibition also offers a multisensory journey through Pompeii’s vibrant culture before the volcanic catastrophe. The dramatic eruption of Mount Vesuvius is brought to life with spectacular projections that immerse viewers in this historic disaster. Interactive elements such as digital sandpits and archaeological games provide hands-on experiences for younger visitors.
The exhibition combines storytelling with technology to create emotional connections to this historical event. A specially composed score accompanies projections of Mount Vesuvius erupting, while ash-cast citizens are displayed with immersive lighting and sound.
Tickets start at £32, and the exhibition welcomes visitors of all ages with no restrictions. The venue is wheelchair accessible, making it available to everyone.
Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, with some sources noting opening times from 9am daily.
For history enthusiasts, families, or anyone seeking an educational blend of history and entertainment, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to witness Pompeii’s final moments through cutting-edge technology.
