While the iconic Sheraton Grand London Park Lane prepares for its centenary celebration in 2027, its famed Palm Court Lounge & Bar has undergone a dramatic transformation that has sparked debate among loyal patrons and design critics alike.
The renovation, completed and revealed on December 10, 2025, represents part of broader updates throughout the five-star Mayfair hotel that overlooks Green Park. London-based Areen Design led the project, which aimed to blend the 1920s Art Deco spirit with contemporary styling. The timing coincides with the centenary of the Art Deco movement in 2025, creating a significant milestone for this heritage space.

The design team worked to restore the hotel’s original character while adapting it for modern guests. The redesign features several distinctive elements that have become talking points. Faux shagreen finishes appear throughout the interiors, complemented by elegant brass detailing.
Dramatic onyx pendant lighting creates atmosphere above stylised wall panels, while the geometric carpet draws inspiration from Marion Dorn, who designed for other prestigious London hotels like Claridge’s and The Savoy. The venue’s stunning 1927 stained-glass dome with its chevrons and jewel-toned panels remains a centerpiece of the space. The space is elegantly framed by intricate fern motifs and geometric glass screens that enhance its Art Deco authenticity.
Food and beverage offerings received equal attention in the renovation. A renewed all-day dining and afternoon tea program features creations by Head Pastry Chef Biju Joshwa, including a Golden Lemon Meringue Dome that pays tribute to the lounge’s stained-glass ceiling.
The new “Paired” concept introduces small plates designed to complement the vibrant cocktail bar experience. The renovation follows the hotel’s significant rebranding from Park Lane Hotel to Sheraton Grand London in 2016, reflecting Starwood’s luxury initiative. The hotel’s position as a social hub for both business and leisure travelers remains central to its identity. Located at 51-53 Brick Street, the Sheraton Grand continues to serve as a gathering place for elegant social events and afternoon teas with live music.
