pixar themed attraction opening soon

Despite widespread anticipation in the entertainment world, reports of a Pixar-themed Epic Universe opening next month in London are inaccurate. This misinformation has circulated online, creating confusion about Universal’s actual theme park plans in the United Kingdom.

To clarify, Universal has announced its first European theme park to be built near Bedford, England, but this project is still in early planning stages with construction expected to begin in 2026 and an opening date targeted for 2031.

The actual Universal Epic Universe theme park opened on May 22, 2025, but this attraction is located in Orlando, Florida, not London. This new addition to Universal’s Orlando Resort features multiple themed lands but is not specifically Pixar-focused. The confusion may stem from mixing details about different Universal projects happening around the world.

Universal’s planned UK theme park represents a significant investment in British entertainment infrastructure, with potential attractions possibly featuring franchises like James Bond, Paddington Bear, and Lord of the Rings, according to BBC reports. However, Universal has not officially confirmed which specific intellectual properties will be featured in the park, and Pixar has not been mentioned as a primary theme.

For visitors interested in authentic Pixar experiences, Disney theme parks continue to be the official home of Pixar attractions. When completed, the Bedford location will be Universal’s sixth branded park globally, joining existing destinations in the US and Asia. The company previously owned a stake in PortAventura World in Spain but sold it in 2004. The project is expected to create 20,000 jobs during its construction phase, with an equal number projected for ongoing operations. Disneyland Paris offers the closest Pixar-themed experiences for UK residents, featuring attractions like Toy Story Playland and upcoming expansions including new Pixar-based rides and experiences.

Travelers planning UK entertainment itineraries for the coming months should note that no new major theme park will open in the London area soon. The current timeline puts Universal’s UK park opening approximately five years from now.

Visitors seeking immersive entertainment experiences in London can instead explore existing attractions like Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, Madame Tussauds, or the London Dungeons. These established venues offer engaging experiences while the UK awaits its future Universal theme park development.
