While many Londoners enjoy their pints at local bars, a different kind of challenge awaits fitness enthusiasts on August 8, 2025. Battle Bunker, a local fitness group, is organizing a street pull-up challenge that offers cash rewards based on performance. The event will take place throughout London’s streets, testing participants’ upper body strength against strict standards.
The challenge begins with a simple proposition: complete seven pull-ups to earn 20 pounds. For those capable of more, the reward structure increases to one pound per completed repetition, with payouts occurring in 20-rep increments. Participants who complete 20 pull-ups receive 20 pounds, while those achieving 40 repetitions earn 40 pounds, and the scale continues upward for stronger competitors.
Earn cash for your pull-up prowess – £20 for seven reps, with payouts growing by £1 per rep at 20-rep milestones.
Form is paramount during this challenge, as judges will enforce strict standards. Participants must use an overhand grip, guarantee their chin clears the bar on each repetition, and achieve full arm extension at the bottom position. Kipping movements or partial repetitions will not count, as these standards help prevent injuries like tendonitis while maintaining the challenge’s integrity.
The event, co-hosted by Paulitt, spans approximately 10 minutes per contestant and focuses particularly on testing British pull-up capabilities. During previous demonstrations, competitors have been encouraged with supportive phrases like “Pull, get that chin up,” while receiving real-time form corrections to improve their technique. The atmosphere is known for its high fives and encouragement that create a strong sense of camaraderie among participants.
Battle Bunker, known for promoting hybrid fitness and mental grit through competition, will provide on-site cash payouts after verifying successful repetitions. Much like CrossFit’s 25.2 workout that includes 21 pull-ups in its first section, this challenge tests both skill and endurance. The organization also offers resources for those looking to improve their pull-up strength, including a training app and one-on-one coaching applications.
This challenge aligns with established fitness standards found in CrossFit and similar disciplines, where proper pull-up form requires full arm extension and the chin clearing the bar. As part of London’s growing public fitness trend, the event encourages progression from scaled versions like jumping pull-ups to the strict form required for the cash challenge.
